GLENELG.
Our Glenelg Project embodies modern family living, designed for a family of five seeking a contemporary, low-maintenance home. Working closely with our relaxed yet discerning clients made for a highly collaborative and enjoyable design process.
The irregular-shaped site and local flooding requirements presented early design challenges, requiring the habitable floor levels to be raised. We used these constraints to our advantage, elevating the living spaces to capture city views from the master suite.
A neutral façade palette was selected to complement the layered materiality of the exterior. Honed Austral granite blocks are paired with weathered vertical Victorian Ash cladding, creating a balanced and tactile architectural expression. Despite the complex site, the home was designed to feel open and generous, with the floor plan flowing to the rear where the living and kitchen areas open onto the pool and garden terrace. Repeating the Victorian Ash cladding to the rear deck soffit reinforces cohesion between architecture and landscape.
This project was a true collaboration, and working with engaged clients and a skilled team allowed us to achieve a thoughtful and highly resolved outcome.
